Borning Bedroom
Description
The Borning Bedroom is so called because it is historically where the Browns were born before the hospital came to town. In fact, as recently as two generations ago Sara's grandfather and his four siblings were born in this room (although Aunt Jane may have actually been born on the back porch).
Quilt on the bed (shown only on request) has signature on it -- "Hazel Brown from her great-grandma M.E. Jackson, Oct. 3, 1892." Hazel was Bill's aunt; ME Jackson was her maternal grandmother who was distantly related to Stonewall Jackson. Hazel was one of the babies born in this bed.
Amenities
The room is furnished with an antique four poster cannonball double bed with a trundle bed beneath, a gooseneck rocker, washstand, dresser, and wardrobe. Guests staying in the Borning Bedroom are invited to put their feet up in the Parlor and take their breakfast in the Main Dining Room. The "down-the-hall" bathroom has a spacious, newly tiled shower. Access to this room is through the staircase in the Dining Room.
